Competitor analysis works on two levels. The first is a full picture of any domain, including prospects who are not clients yet: authority, organic and paid keywords, estimated traffic, strongest pages and backlinks, with broken links kept apart from anti-bot blocks. The second is the ongoing comparison inside the project: competitor domains are followed on the same keywords the project tracks.
From there come shared keywords, keywords won and lost, each competitor’s average position and a matrix showing who stands where. The keyword gap collects the keywords competitors rank for and the site doesn’t, removing those already tracked or already in Search Console: it is the list of uncovered topics, sorted by volume. It is also one of the most common uses before signing: showing a prospect where they stand against competitors says more than a presentation.
